Theory and practical algorithms for nonlinear continuous optimization. Fundamentals of unconstrained optimization: conjugate gradient methods and Newton-type methods. Nonlinear least squares problems. Fundamentals of constrained optimization: optimality conditions, quadratic programming, penalty and barrier methods, interior-point methods, sequential quadratic programming. [Offered: W]
